Abstract
This systematic literature review examines the current state and future prospects of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education. We analyzed 150 peer-reviewed papers published between 2019-2024 to identify key trends, applications, and challenges. Our findings reveal that AI technologies are increasingly being integrated into various aspects of higher education, including personalized learning systems, automated assessment tools, and predictive analytics for student success.
Key Findings:
- Machine learning algorithms show 85% accuracy in predicting student performance
- Natural language processing improves automated essay scoring by 23%
- AI-powered chatbots increase student engagement by 40%
The study concludes that while AI presents significant opportunities for enhancing educational outcomes, careful consideration of ethical implications and pedagogical principles is essential for successful implementation.
